Monarch Larva Sighted

Date: 07/03/2014

Number: 1

Greetings again from Virginia's Eastern Shore!
While trimming back my common milkweed this evening, I discovered 2 caterpillars! One was in what looked like 3rd stage and the other larger one probably the 4th stage. The temperature was hot and it was nearing dusk and they were resting under leaves. These were obviously results of earlier eggs that we did not observe being laid, so it means we had adult females earlier than I reported Tuesday of this week! Oh, Happy Day! I rescued (hopefully) these 2 and will feed them and should have butterflies later! I saved out some good leaves for feeding as I cut back the other stalks! So encouraging! Yay!!! Expecting lots of rain and wind from Hurricane Arthur, so at least these 2 will stay dry!
