Happy Day Happy Day. This is my first Monarch since 2012. I believe very few Monarchs were seen in Winnipeg last year. I never saw one and I was looking.Anyway, I was walking at the dog park [Maple Grove } by the perimeter. we have had a lot of rain and so the City hasn't cut down the grass and wild area at the park. My dogs were running through the grass and open field and then to my surprise a big beautiful, healthy looking Monarch was flying around a 15 ft.circle of huge showy milkweed. A very decent patch. Now I am concerned about them coming down and mowing the area. I am going to phone the Nature Concervancy here in Winnipeg to see if they can help get the area zoned off until August.
