Monarch Adult Sighted
Sightings report image

Date: 07/03/2014

Number: 1

We were in Tommy Thompson Park, also known as the Leslie Spit, which is essentially a wildlife preserve created by fill from digging out foundations for highrises. Monarchs have often been seen here, and for many years. But they have been scarce lately. After hunting around the meadows where much of the milkweed is overgrown by other wildflowers, we finally spotted one adult Monarch (gender unknown). We also found one leaf with what we believe to be three eggs. It was very disappointing.

Editor's Note: These do not appear to be monarch eggs. Possible leaf-damage by 1st instar larva on bottom leaf.
