Monarch Adult Sighted

Date: 06/27/2014

Number: 1

We just saw our first two adults of this season. We monitor 4 areas with over 10,000 milkweed plants, so it was good to see them flitting over the plants. I have been doing the monarch life cycle with my zoology students for over 30 years and now at Metea County Park for the past 15 years. I am saddened by the diminished numbers these last few years. It’s always a thrill to see the adults laying their eggs. The adults that we spotted today were in area 3 the hill-side south of the pond. Attached please find a map of the park. I hope you can use this information.
