In a riparian planting near my home, there are numerous milkweed plants. This monarch was resting on a tree on the edge of the planting. I was so excited, I forgot to see if it were a male or female. The first one of the year. I have a huge milkweed garden, just two last year. None so far this year. But my daily trail goes right past this huge native plant area. I'll look forward to seeing more.
