Four caterpillars on a single milkweed.

My 10 year old daughter, who is a Monarch enthusiast, and I were staying at a hotel in Alpena, Michigan. We were on the first floor and there was a large glass window for some reason that looked out onto the landscaping that surrounded the parking lot. My daughter opened the curtains, looked down and immediately spotted the milkweed right next to our room and then immediately spotted the caterpillars on it.

There was only a single milkweed plant in the landscaping and those four caterpillars had really munched it down. We were leaving the next day for our home in Clarkston so we brought the four caterpillars home. I didn't want to leave them behind because I was afraid there was not enough milkweed to sustain them. I was also afraid some landscaper would come along and blast them with Round Up or pull the milkweed.
