Monarch Adult Sighted

Date: 07/11/2014

Number: 1

Solitary Monarch butterfly flying incessantly over the milkweed. There are large patches of milkweed in my meadow. It looks like it is searching for something. It came close enough to me that there is no question that it is a Monarch. I could not tell which gender. However, I have read that this flying behavior is typical of a male searching for a mate. I have observed it 7/11 and 7/12. I will try to get a picture if it will stay still long enough. First of the year. I was able to confirm it's a male. It was still searching for a mate, yesterday. Hope he finds her!
