Around 3 PM I visited a nearby hillside field of golden rod, various wildflowers and a large patch of milkweed to look for monarch butterflies. Shortly after I arrived, I noticed two mating butterflies in flight. I suspected that they were monarch butterflies. When they landed on some golden rod leaves, I was able to positively identify them. And I was positively thrilled! The day was warm and humid with a moderate breeze.
