First of the season, on a butterfly bush. Since I am at the eastern end of Long Island it usually takes awhile for the monarchs to reach me in July. As A rough guide, usually when the butterfly bushes bloom, they show up. I keep track every year of my first sighting, so this year fits in with otHer years. Was a little worried because of the decline in the population that this year might be different. So far so good. Am also raising 10 monarch caterpillars to help out.
