Monarch Adult Sighted

Date: 07/16/2014

Number: 1

HOORAY!!! Today around 2pm CST our first adult monarch was sighted, enjoying the warm sunshine and breezes on our lush boulevard garden on a busy urban street in southwest minneapolis! In talking with my neighbor, she also said she saw one monarch (probably the same one) about three hours earlier (11am-ish CST). Exciting!! Especially with the cooler spring and late start to summer and so much rain! This sighting is much earlier than what I've typically reported. What is exciting is when driving around the neighborhood I'm seeing many boulevard and front yard gardens planted with milkweed, native rather than cultivar coneflower, bee balm, butterfly bush, butterfly weed, and blazing star liatris. HOORAY Neighbors!! Hopefully we will see more and it will be a strong rebounding year for our lovelies...signing off doing the 'happy monarch dance'....!!
