Monarch (OTHER Observations)

Date: 07/22/2014

Number: 1

This morning my first monarch emerged from it's chrysalis. It was a beautiful female. There was another female laying eggs on our milkweed just as the newly emerged one was sunning itself on our butterfly bush. I have 29 more chrysalis waiting to emerge in the coming days and about 62 ranging from 1st instar to 4th instar. Very busy season. My husband is now having to search for milkweed plants beyond our yard to feed this bunch. I want to keep my remaining plants for the next flurry of egg laying. The next batch of eggs I collect will probably be the ones migrating to Mexico. Great year.
