Monarch Adult (FIRST sighted)
Sightings report image

Date: 07/22/2014

Number: 1

Finally saw the first Monarch of the season today in northern New Jersey. A brightly colored female approximately 6pm. She nectared on Purple Coneflower for over an hour and also drank from one of the very few A. Syriaca flowers that are still left. I have tons of A. Syriaca, A. Currasavica, A. Inarnata and A. Tuberosa and she wasn't interested in any of them and did not exhibit any interest in depositing eggs. All she wanted to do was nectar. After an hour and a half of partaking of the Coneflower she flew off. I'll keep an eye out to see if she shows up again tomorrow.
