male monarchs continue to be active in our yard
they are ever vigilant, checking and rechecking our three main yard areas for a lovely female........
theirs is an interesting choice of strategy ---stay in a likely spot and wait for the love of your life........or keep bar hopping in hopes of finding miss right in a place you just checked a few minutes ago!
as some of you know, I like to make videos each year to summarize my monarch experiences..........this year I'd like to give some credit to the unsung hero, the male who is forever in hopes of finding his sexual partner, but who may never find her........
the old song "standing on the corner (watching all the girls go by) comes to mind; but what of the bar hopper?????? can anyone suggest a good song for the male on the prowl for his lady love??????
you can see this is a big problem!
send suggestions directly to me, thank you!!!!!!
and keep those reports coming!
latest from the garden is that we have several stage 4/5 caterpillars.....
if my math is correct, they will be some of this year's last monarchs to mature sexually, just before august 15.......
their offspring will need good fortune to successfully take wing and fly to mexico.........
it's a tough world out there!
