Monarch Adult Sighted

Date: 07/05/2014

Number: 1

It's the first time I see a Monarch butterfly in BC. Three years ago, I've planted milkweed on my property. I'm hoping this is helping the butterfly.

No photos unfortunately. I was finishing a bicycle ride when I saw the Monarch and I didn't have my camera with me. The interesting fact is that the Monarch was near a patch of milkweed not too far from my house. As I mentioned in my previous email, I planted many plants of Milkweed on my property three years ago and I'm hoping that the seed are spreading in my neighborhood. We see lots of Swallowtails in Kelowna but we rarely see Monarch butterflies. There were many Monarch butterflies when I grew up in Quebec many years ago. It was great to see one here in BC.
