Monarch Adult Sighted
Sightings report image

Date: 07/27/2014

Number: 1

Couldn't believe what I was seeing! Last year, a stalky plant grew near my roses... I chose to leave it grow rather than yank it out because I was curious to see what it might become. I finally did pull it out in the fall since it didn't produce much of anything. This spring, half a dozen more of these stalky plants appeared which motivated me to research and discover that they were milkweed. I was thrilled since I knew that was an important plant to monarch butterflies and its supply was declining! I hoped but never expected to see any monarchs but truly feel that I was rewarded today for not yanking out that mysterious plant.
