Observed a dark female Monarch laying eggs on my front yard milkweed. She laid dozens of eggs; I collected 34 eggs for fostering and am raising them now. Yes, I was surprised to see one this early. Usually we don 't get them Til third week of August. The late crop is often super dark orange with lots of black.
