Monarch Larva Sighted
Sightings report image

Date: 07/31/2014

Number: 1

We have a mature perennial garden and added more nursery stock milkweed this spring and over the last week we have counted 10 larvae - caterpillars - at one time on the plants. Today only two are left and one has now become a beautiful green pupa. We wonder if birds or chipmunks have gotten to the others. It is interesting to note that altough we also have the native milk weed plants growing on our land, the monarchs have only laid their eggs on the nursery stock.
