Today I collected one instar 3 (the largest size I have found so far this summer) and four instar one caterpillars.
I have also found about 150 eggs on young milkweed plants that have regrown since my neighbour cut their large property to "make it look more attractive". This is a terrible problem in this area with the extensive lawn mowing along hiking trialways, roadsides, parks and personal property. I have observed that the amount of this "grooming" that is occuring here has increased extensively over the last 2 summers.
