I found 3 caterpillars, each about 1/2 inch long. One was on top of a milkweed leaf! There were about 30 other small holes in the leaves of the surrounding milkweed plants, but the baby caterpillars must have met predators early in their lives!! Fortunately, we were able to have these 3 survive. We have not seen a monarch butterfly in that area all summer!
