Monarch Adult Sighted

Date: 08/04/2014

Number: 8

There have been more monarchs flying through my yard this summer than in years past. I see at least one per day. Some are hatching in my garden, fresh, deep orange and just beginning their adult lives.

My parents summer in Canada, at the edge of Constance Lake, located just above Lake Huron. They have seen NO Monarchs at all this summer (so sad). I suspect that those butterflies that try to cross the FOOD DESERT that is Indiana cannot make it any further north. I can only hope that those who I know that live to the south of Bayfield (plus thousands more) have encouraged the dis-use of Round-Up on farm fields and have cultivated "fuel flowers" for the return journey to Mexico.
