I was driving on Wildlife Drive at Edwin B. Forsythe National Wildlife Refuge, Oceanville, NJ this afternoon. I observed a total of four monarch butterflies along the 8 mile drive. All were nectaring on a variety of wildflowers.
I also observed about ten 2nd instar caterpillars feeding on common milkweed.
Weather was warm, sunny, humid,temperature in the high 80s.
