Saw one monarch laying eggs on frontyard milkweeds @ 10 am o;n 7/26/14. I gathered seven eggs and protected same. None appeared to be viable. Perhaps this female never encountered a male on her journey northeastwards. I might add that I had success the three years prior to 2013. In 2013, I saw only one monarch flying southwestward in the autumn.
