Monarch (OTHER Observations)

Date: 08/08/2014

Number: 1

We were taking pictures of a female monarch nectaring on lantana and Mexican sunflower. She then went to a old queen anne lace and was just hanging there. A butterfly quickly came across a field and covered her. After a moment they both flew to a tree hanging together, After a minute or so there they went to a peach tree and it looked as they were head to head in conversation. You could easily tell it was a male(gland) and female(broader lines). Then the males head was down and hers up and they stayed that way for over 20 minutes. You could hardly see the female. His wings almost covered her.
