Yesterday I had about 45 close encounters with at least 19 individual Monarchs near the coord. given.
Rainy weather was approaching and the winds were changing to the east.
Most were nectaring on Red Clover (one male nectaring on Red Clover while in copula, one nectaring on White Buddleia, one male nectaring on Tiger Lily. Since most of the encounters were with males alternately patrolling and then stopping to nectar, I suspect that the females were busy with ovipositing in the early afternoon.
Yesterday I also I observed three pairs in copula — suggesting that there will be another local brood in mid- September.
