Have been watching 2 adult male ruby throats compete with a very good sized female for the nectar feeders and salvia blossoms for the last few days. Finally confirmed on 8/9 that another male was visiting the feeders. Had suspected it for a few days prior but couldn't spot them at the same time. So it seems migration is on. I believe the one male and the female are still locals that have been feeding here during the summer.
Or so it seems. One male is very sleek and has brilliant colors. The other is not as sleek and seems to have some roughed up feathers. But he holds his own with the other hummers.
