Update on our summer. We have released 68 beautiful butterfiles. We still have 64 chrysalises and about 8 cats. We will be leaving town and giving our babies to a naturalist friend at our nature center to care for. She has raised many before and will be tagging them. We have had only 4 lost. One died after molting at 3rd instar, two failed to completely pupate (one may have been because of disturbance) and one was killed because of possible OE. No tachnid losses. Most of ours were raised from eggs in our yard, but we found about a dozen cats also at other patches, which may explain the one OE. One worrisome thought--we haven't found hardly any eggs this last month.
