I was sitting in a friends yard and saw a Bald Eagle fly out of the trees and into another tree. And then it cackeled. My friend didn't see it but he heard the sound--very clearly! It was on my friend's property--close, probably 200' away.
Later when more friends joined us who lived in the area, several told of recent sitings they had heard about in the same area.
It was completely unexpected and caught me off guard. I believe it was a male because of his tail was so white. It was a classic bald eagle. I think females have more brown in their tail feathers.
This is the third time I've seen a bald eagle in my life. This time was by far the best sighting! And that sound was so cool!
