Monarch (OTHER Observations)

Date: 08/16/2014

Number: 1

Update: I have been so busy with monarch caterpillars that I have no time for fishing, anyways the 3 generation has been busy and for the first time in years I can't handle all the eggs I have been finding. I took in over 100 eggs and left 400-500 eggs out side. Right now I have released 4 females and 1 male in the last week and I think that is the last of the egg layers. So all the chrysalis I have left will migrate I assume. I have 41 chrysalis right now and 178 caterpillars ( I'm going through 50-70 leaves a day. I will get more eggs but have none as of today. I have had 10 die so far from parasite fly. I'm going to tag 300 monarchs this year and if thing go right I might not have to catch any. P.S.mowed ditches are the place to find eggs or caterpillars. The adults are laying on the small milkweed 1 to 8 inches tall.
