VERY fresh female basking on spent salvia--no nectar on the stalk. She stayed longer than I did. Wondered if she was just out of the chrysalis--but couldn't find the empty case. She didn't move much, except to occasionally open and close its wings. As usual it faced away from the sun so that the direct rays fell on its opened wings--when they occasionally opened.
