Monarch (OTHER Observations)

Date: 08/18/2014

Number: 1

The Monarch Population seems to have rebounded in our area this year. I tend to see in excess of 5 monarchs per day in my garden as well as in the surrounding areas. A friend of mine has raised over 150 monarchs so far this season, and is still finding eggs near Lake Michigan.
Today I noticed 3 brightly colored Monarchs flying in a south westerly direction as I drove toward Mishicot from Two Rivers. One faded monarch sighted was not flying in any particular direction. Could this be the beginning of the migration? My home reared Monarchs are starting to emerge earlier in the morning as compared to the previous generation normally emerging in the afternoon. My patrolling Male monarch is still patrolling, but there seems to be less territorial behavior between the males that I have released recently.
