We have had a wonderful summer of hummingbird sightings and they have been busy slurping up the nectar in our four feeders. At any given time one can see at least two hummers, mostly females, who seem to be aggressive towards each other chasing each other from the feeders. We are still observing males as well but they seem to appear in the mornings and evenings. Will miss them all when they leave in a few weeks. The only problem has been with the downy woodpeckers draining out the nectar from the feeders. Anybody who has any suggestions on how to keep the downies away and still attract the h'birds, please post.
