My first Monarch emerged today from my outdoor habitat. A male, in fine condition, resting on the wood ledge for a great deal of the morning before flying off. This monarch was from a Butterfly Weed branch I had picked for attracting adult egg-laying Monarchs to my newly planted garden this year. ALAS: soon I discovered a first instar Monarch cat...crawling on the parsley no less.
