Monarch Adult Sighted

Date: 08/21/2014

Number: 1

A surprise sighting in our perennial garden late afternoon in very rainy weather. A male monarch perched on the Salvia plant and remained fairly motionless with wings closed in order we think to minimize the raindrops falling on his wings. Occasionally he would flex them and then stop. He was trying to feed from the plant and remained there until darkness fell. When we woke this morning, he was still there at 8:00 a.m.EST. With better weather and some sun he disappeared 15 minutes later.
(Picture attatched should be for previous reported sighting of a female monarch on 09/18/14. Somehow it didn't get through)
