Monarch Adult Sighted

Date: 05/24/2014

Number: 2

This was the first sighting of an adult monarch in my yard and she laid an egg. Unfortunately the egg disappeared. Then, 2nd and 3rd monarch sightings occurred in mid-late July 2014. August 6, 2014 started seeing monarchs other places around the city of St. Louis including Forest Park & Tower Grove area. Then, the monarchs started showing up again in my yard in the morning hours and late afternoon every day beginning on August 9, 2014 and this has continued up to and including today (Aug 22). Two were seen most days from the 9th-17th of August. Lately, they have not been seen together. Another monarch was seen in our yard laying eggs on Aug 10. Not sure what has become of these. Haven't seen any caterpillars yet and there have been many wasps in the area where the eggs were laid. I have butterfly milkweed, swamp milkweed, and common milkweed.
