1 lone adult monarch that cruised through our potted flowers on our 20'X30' deck this morning, without stopping at any…like a surveillance run. The deck is 2/3 shade at this time of the morning and on the 5th floor of an apt building in a residential neighbourhood with small parks abounding nearby the many 3 and 4 storey apartment buildings. Yesterday we had a small white and a small yellow butterfly on our deck as well. It is rare the past number of years to see butterflies at all on the deck, though they used to regularly visit all summer long. I have been at this location almost 20 years and always plant a large assortment of flowers and some potted veggies. This year first time, I planted jasmine plants 2 pots.
