we kept finding small monarch caterpillars on the milk weed abd they would disappear each day. I discovered that there were birds by the milkweed so we assumed they were eating the caterpillars. We brought one in the house, fed it and now it is a chyrsalis. it turned into a chrysalis in less than one hour yesterday. We will document the rest of the procedure. The caterpillar itseld grew by the hour and it pooped like crazy. It took four days to grow from a tiny thread into a full size caterpillar, pretty amazing. I wish we would have saved more before the birds ate them.
