Monarch (OTHER Observations)

Date: 08/26/2014

Number: 1

What a great monarch summer! I have seen no less than a half dozen monarchs DAILY in our back meadow all summer long! Last year I was hard pressed to find a handful all season.

Working in the garden yesterday (8/25) I came across both eggs and larva on common milkweed while 2 monarchs were nectaring from hyssop.

Mid-August, while in the middle of White Bear Lake, I saw 5 monarchs in 4 hours in dedicated flight moving south and thought it early to see this behavior so early in August. I plan on heading back out on the lake later this week to make another count.
