3 adult Ruby throat males, each guarding their own feeder. (I have 4 up and may add one more.) I have seen up to 7 hummers in the area at once. The males make it difficult for the females and juveniles to feed but they manage...when all else fails they visit the 4th feeder which is under an oak tree. Occasionally a male defends it too, but it is not as popular as the other feeders. I assume that the shade is the issue...while the other feeders are lightly shaded it is in much denser shade. It has not been as dry this summer and the males have been less vigilant about guarding the feeders until the last two weeks.
