Monarch Larva Sighted

Date: 08/26/2014

Number: 1

I have found 21 caterpillars in the last 3 days! Last year we didn't have any. Plus I actually saw a very haggard female lay 2 eggs. I attached a picture of one of the cats -- along with a very easy BEST way to keep a Monarch. Use a regular mason jar, and glue in a piece of mesh (an old laundry bag works great) into top of the lid. The mesh will naturally make the cat form a chrysalis right there. Attach a few strings -- and you can hang the lid with mesh (and chrysalis!) anywhere! Great way to watch the next phase, and easy to move around. This seems to be a great year for Monarchs!
