Had a female all through early summer and had not seen her for a long time. I was surprised that she was not all that interested in our cardinal flowers which are visited every year. I hung an empty hummingbird feeder as a decoy to see if that would attract her to the flower garden. It worked. I saw her come to the feeder, and discovering that it was empty, she headed straight down to the bee balm. She is now being seen frequently in the flower garden. Both the cardinal flower and bee balm are large and beautiful this year. I don't know why the cardinal flower is being passed by.
