Monarch (OTHER Observations)
Sightings report image

Date: 08/28/2014

Number: 1

this is an update on a large "soilbank" type of acreage I found over a month ago. at the time, the milkweed were blooming nicely and there lots of monarchs feeding there.
the next day, two areas were mowed down because of thistles.
within about two weeks the milkweed that had survived and sent out new shoots had eggs and caterpillars.
today's photo shows one of the new monarchs that are now feeding heavily on the goldenrod that now covers the acreage........
a wonderful study in how things work out sometime
there could be more monarchs to hatch yet......I have no idea how many, but if winds stay from the south, there might be a few days build up there for wonderful possibilities......
happy am I, as yoda would say : )
