I've had a ruby-throated hummingbird female coming to my feeder all summer long. I did have a male showing up, but not as often. He seems more shy and won't feed when I sit on the porch. I've noticed in the past week or so the feeder has been going down much quicker. I saw the female yesterday, Aug. 27th, 2014 feeding but not the male. I first thought I might have more than one hummingbird but now I don't think so. She's very brave and will fly up to you as if to make her assessment of you as she looks you in the face just a few feet from you and then she'll fly off. All of this after having fed. I will try to watch everyday to see if I can find out when she stops feeding and finally leaves for the year.
