One of my three resident ruby throat males apparently left early this am. I am expecting the other two to depart shortly. I saw a maximum of 5 birds at once today...two males and three females/juveniles.

I have 4 feeders out...the birds are consuming nectar rapidly. They are also visiting the black and blue salvia, althea (rose of sharon), petunias (I have a naughty rabbit who is consuming all my petunias that are not in hanging baskets) and walker's low nepeta (cat mint--not the same as cat nip, although some cats are slightly attracted to it.)They also like my penstemons but they are nearly done blooming.
