I am a retired teacher, having used Monarchs in the Classroom curriculum for the last 14 years of my career.
I now bring monarch eggs/larvae found in my garden into the house and raise them.
During the last weeks I have had 10 eggs/caterpillars. Of those 10, 6 died just before or during chrysalis stage. 2 emerged, and when put outside near a nectar source, could not fly away. Milkweed eaten was from my garden. Possible contamination from neighbor's drift of Tru-Green applications. We do not use chemicals in our garden except possible contamination from county site compost.
10 is more than the last 2 years, but lower than the 20s/30s in years past.
