Hummingbird Sighting

Date: 08/30/2014

Number: 9

Still have many hummers. Still using approximately just under four quarts of sugar water a day. Haven't seen a male since you queried about them last week. At which time I had only one or two remaining. I have many many females and juveniles. It seems like a female coming with two juveniles is a regular occurrence, when one trio feeds and leaves it is only a few minutes before the scene repeats with what seems to be another group. The female will often chase the juveniles while she feeds first or takes first choice of perches. also have one group that appears to be 3 juveniles who appear within seconds of each other, they wrest for position and then feed simultaneously. The juveniles are in various states of color, some seem to still be juvenile gray, others splotchedgreen and gray, and others almost adult color with the beginnings of a white neck ring forming.
