I noticed that our "3-red-feathers-on-his-throat-male-juvie" that I identified a week ago is prepping for his long journey, as he's quite a bit plumper than he was last week. The 2 females aren't showing signs of fattening up just yet.....they actually look way too skinny to start their trek, so we're hoping they'll be here awhile. I know "awhile" is wishful thinking, as we've seen just how quick they can go from thin to thick!!
As sad as we are that they'll all soon be gone, I must say that I'm enjoying reading the new sightings from people in the deep South! It's heart-warming to read that they're just as excited to have their 1st hummer sightings as we were back in April! I'm glad to know that others will get to enjoy our little friends as much as we did, but I guess they'll have a much shorter time to enjoy them as the little guys pass thru.
