Hummingbird Sighting

Date: 08/31/2014

Number: 2

Heavy rain here and 69 degrees but 2 are still feeding. No squirrels, no bees, no woodpeckers, no other birds out, not even the chickadees. Was thinking of raising the sugar ratio to 3 to 1 as other posts mention. I had a female thru October last year and pretty sure she was my resident female not a traveler and joked about having to drive her south as she got fatter and fatter and wasn't leaving. I kept the feeders out 2 weeks after she left thinking I might get a traveler from you folks up north and my flowers were ragged by then but never saw any. One today was very slender, small and pale. Two here at 6:15 AM when I was out with flashlight as raccoons chew and destroy the feeders if I don't bring them in at night.
