Hummingbird Sighting

Date: 09/01/2014

Number: 3

Two hummingbirds seen feeding on large bank of jewel weed in our yard, they were challenging each other when they got too close but seemed tranquil while feeding away from each other at opposite ends of the jewel weed bank. Then a third hummingbird arrived and the two feeders promptly chased this one off.

We have a lot of areas covered with jewel weed (which we leave alone to grow) and see hummers all season long. They often perch on trees and shrubs nearby. Also seen during spring and summer bathing in the spray from the garden hose when my husband waters the veggie garden.
