The Monarchs are collecting in my back yard. There is an 26 acre alfalfa field & 2 acre wild area with joe pye, cup plant, golden rod & wild verbena & aster. There were 20 monarchs feeding intently in the wild area, and they seemed to be funneling in from the field. It wouldn't surprise me that I will find them roosting there this evening. In my garden, 5 were feeding on Meadow Blazing Star & garden phlox. I managed to tag 4 wild Monarchs so far today. In my kitchen I have at least 30 chrysalids, 10 caterpillars in 5th & 2 in 3rd instars. I have reared & released over 100 this season, of which 30 have been tagged so far. A friend of mine that also lives in Mishicot has reared over 250 this season (tagged 25) & has about 100 cats & chrysalids yet.
