A monarch butterfly- the first one that I have seen in years !
It flew over the south east fence at the sunniest location in my backyard. The monarch flew past the red hummingbird feeder between a black lace bush, a cherry blossom tree and a bright lime green sumac tree. The height of the trees are approximately 6 feet tall and two are purple to black leaf in colour.
I report this because it was truly so magnificent to see a monarch. This location/area was common place for monarchs 40 years ago.
